Ilya Pharma is opening a new indication and recruits a post doctoral scientist with focus on IBD

The laboratory of Professor Mia Phillipson is internationally recognized with special expertise in the field of immune cell functions and physiology. Ilya Pharma is developing drug candidates from its technology platform for treatment of wounds in skin and mucosa and has an interest in delineating effect of its candidates in models of inflammatory bowel disease.

The successful applicant will join a dynamic and successful interdisciplinary team studying immune cell functions during injury, inflammation, and maintenance of homeostasis. This research project is integrated with the development of innovative biologic compounds at Ilya Pharma and the successful applicant will gain insight and expertise and learn the interphase between academia and industry. The research will be performed at the Department of Medical Cell Biology, Uppsala University, at the Biomedical center that brings together scientists, clinicians and entrepreneurs with the objective of applying fundamental research to the understanding and treatment of disease together with the facilities of SciLifeLab. The Biomedical Center is located 400m from Uppsala Science Park and the office of Ilya Pharma.

You will be investigating if and how treatment with lactic acid bacteria engineered to express immune modulating proteins affect disease progression and active relapses in models of experimental inflammatory bowel disease and the cellular mechanism involved.

You will be an enthusiastic, motivated, highly organized postdoctoral researcher possessing knowledge and experience in cellular or molecular immunology with an ability to produce work to a high standard. You will have a PhD in immunology or related sciences, excellent first-author publications together with an interest in development of inflammatory bowel disease. Proven research skills in experimental in vivomouse studies together with excellent communication and interpersonal skills are also essential capabilities for this post.
